I saw this post on “X” (formerly Twitter) the other day: “I’m first world poor”. Which means I own a smart phone and an expensive laptop so I can go online and check that I have no money in the bank. While it made me laugh, I immediately got a little sad because it’s so true for so many people. I used to own some apartments and I had a young lady suddenlybecome delinquent on her rent. When she opened the door to greet me, she was on a brand-new iPhone and in the driveway was new car with the dealer tag still on it. Hmmm, I wonder why it became tough for her to pay rent? I’ve said it before,“Life is all about choices.” Most of the time, it’s not an INCOME problem,it’s a SPENDING problem caused by lack of self-control and bad decisions. Before you take on another payment or buy an expensive item, take a couple of days to think about it and calculate the true COST of your decisions.
